Here is how the order of operations works, because the order matters. I research first. I verify materials, check certificates at the issuing body, and pick products across price points. Then, and only then, I look for an affiliate relationship with brands already on the list. No brand pays for placement. No brand sees a guide before you do. A brand with no affiliate program stays in the guide anyway, unlinked or linked plain, because the recommendation came from the research, not the commission.
Commissions fund the research time behind these guides and keep them free to read.
I am joining affiliate programs operated by networks including Impact.com and FlexOffers, which connect publishers like me with brands. Until those relationships are active, links in my guides earn me nothing.
